Special Features of the Pre-Masters Course
Some of the special features of the Pre-Masters Course at David Game College are:
- It assimilates research methods throughout the programme and trains students step-by-step in how to research and write a thesis
- Edexcel Level 7 BTEC Advanced Professional Award and Certificate are an integral part of the Pre-Masters course
- All tutors have extensive experience of working with overseas students and are familiar with their needs and concerns
- The Course Coordinator gives students individual support and attention in finding and applying for postgraduate entry to British universities. This assistance will include advice on courses available at universities and help with your application procedure along with individual assistance with application forms, references and preparation for interviews. Given the range of choice of Masters Degree courses at British universities, helping to find the right course for you is part of the added value of the Pre-Masters course.
- Internal quality control takes place every 3 months when the Pre-Masters Academic Committee meets to evaluate teaching, course structure and any exams set
A special feature of the Pre-Masters Course at David Game College is the integration throughout the programme of research methods and academic skills. These are essential for a student to succeed on a postgraduate degree course. A dissertation is a mandatory requirement of most British MA, MSc and MBA courses. The feedback we have received from the universities is that overseas students primarily fail to achieve the grade they are capable of because they lack the research and academic skills needed to successfully complete that part of the course. For this reason research methods and academic skills take an equal place alongside academic content and IELTS on our Pre-Masters Course.
In October and February each year, David Game College holds university fairs at the college that give our students an opportunity to talk to a member of staff from a university and to decide whether a specific postgraduate degree is right for them. In addition, Pre-Masters students will be invited to presentations given by admissions tutors, on their universities and the courses they offer. In January to March international officers from a range of universities are invited to give presentations to Pre-Masters students.
If you have an IELTS level of 6.0 or above you may consider taking a shortened version of the Pre-Masters course, for example a 6-month programme that comprises Semesters Two and Three or a 3-month course of just one semester.
We are now recruiting for the Sep 2010 and Jan 2011 intakes for the Pre-Masters Course
We have a 100% record in placing students who have successfully completed the Pre-Masters course and achieved the required IELTS score.
After taking the Pre-Masters Course at David Game College I feel confident that I now have the necessary language, knowledge, academic and research skills to successfully complete my postgraduate degree.
